Our Mission

Por La Comunidad

CORA (Comunidad en Outreach for Resilience and Awareness) was founded by a collective of community members with lived experience and dedicated leaders committed to uplifting marginalized communities in Los Angeles. As the first Mexican-American-led Syringe Services Program (SSP) in California, CORA delivers compassionate care to BIPOC, Indigenous, immigrant, undocumented, and LGBTQ individuals, as well as monolingual Spanish speakers.

Our mission is to promote dignity and well-being through life-saving harm reduction services like clean syringe access, naloxone distribution, and peer-driven support. We meet people where they are, honoring their unique stories, traditions, and values to create a space where everyone feels seen and respected. Through our work, we help individuals restore from within, reclaiming their health, dignity, and sense of self.

Our Values

  • Equity: Bridging healthcare gaps for communities affected by systemic oppression.

  • Empowerment: Encouraging individuals to rebuild their lives from within.

  • Comunidad: Creating spaces where people feel they belong.

  • Prevencion: Saving lives through harm reduction.

  • Cultura: Honoring and incorporating the traditions and values of our communities.

Significance of CORA

CORA draws inspiration from the Indigenous ethnic group of northwestern Mexico, whose traditions reflect a deep connection to resilience and community. We integrate these cultural values into our outreach and support, ensuring that our services are both culturally relevant and meaningful.

Our Impact

CORA services countless individuals and communities, delivering life-saving services with dignity, compassion, and respect. Together, we are creating a healthier, more equitable future for all.
